Privacy Policy
In short
Ferry collects nothing about you, your computer, your drives or your files. It has no account, no telemetry, no ads and no trackers. The only thing it fetches is a small public update file; the server counts these checks per day without keeping your IP address. It sends something only when you report a problem and click Send.

The update check
Ferry checks for updates when it starts and every hour by downloading a small file from https://ferryfs.app. It sends no ID and nothing about your drives or files; the request carries only your IP address and the Ferry version, like any visit to a website. To count installed copies, my server keeps per day the country, the Ferry version and a one-way hash of the IP address made with a key that changes every month; it does not store the IP address. Cloudflare, which delivers the website (see below), processes the IP address to deliver the file and protect the site from attacks (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
On your computer
Settings, your backup confirmation and a diagnostic log are kept in %ProgramData%\Ferry. Remembered FileVault passwords are stored there encrypted with Windows (DPAPI) and readable only by administrators. None of this is sent anywhere unless you report a problem (below); you can delete it at any time.
Problem reports
When you click Send in Settings → Help → Report a problem, Ferry sends to this website what you wrote, your email address if you gave one, the versions of Ferry, Windows and the Dokany driver, Ferry’s settings and its log. The log can contain the names of your drives, folders and files; it never contains their contents or your FileVault passwords. Nothing is sent before you click Send.
I use a report only to find and fix the problem and, if you gave your email address, to write to you about it (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR: you choose to send it). Reports are stored on my server and deleted after 90 days; I get the description by email, sent through Resend. To have a report deleted sooner, email me its number (for example FR-7K3Q2M).
Other services
Installers are downloaded from dl.ferryfs.app, and counted the same way. The website, update.json and the installers are delivered through Cloudflare, which sees your IP address in doing so (it acts on my behalf as a processor, under its own privacy policy). If you email me, I use your message only to answer it. This website counts visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, without cookies (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
Your rights
You can ask for access to, correction or deletion of your data, restrict or object to its processing, and complain to a data protection authority (in the Czech Republic the Úřad pro ochranu osobních údajů). Write to [email protected].
